17-Year-Old One-Day Abia State Governor, Nicholas Ogunji, Sets Inmates Free
Nicholas Ogunji, a 17-year-old student has played a role of one-day governor of the state. Nicholas, a student of the Adventist Technical Secondary School located in Ohafia, Abia State, has set some inmates free and has also performed several other tasks. The inmates are from the Afaraukwu Correctional Centre in the state.
Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia State Governor, posted this on his page on twitter. He posted that Mr Nicholas was the third one-day governor that the state has had in his administration of 5 years old. Mr Nicholas went to the Afaraukwu Correctional Centre to pay fines of some of the inmates and sent them free.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said that this is a way of introducing the Nigerian youths to leadership earlier so that they will know what to face when they reach such position.
Something like this has happened in Lagos state where, Jemimah Marcus, a 16-year-old student became a one-day governor. The student of Angus Memorial Senior High School became the governor after winning the Spelling Bee Competition in the state.
